CW Experience

Compassion Weekend on the first weekend in June has been said to be a great start to the summer series. Is this service, however, from your heart? Is it how you want to serve your Lord and God? So often in our busy schedules, we as believers get wrapped up in religious activities and doing good works. Though, the good works of Compassion Weekend are a blessing in disguise for the many people that were helped, that work would mean nothing if there were no heart for the Lord behind it. The works of CW stand as a reminder that we are to live everyday as if it were CW and realize that though physical needs may be met, the spiritual needs of so many people are at stake and must be addressed. CW gave us a chance as a church to go out and be the sermon and show people the Gospel of Christ rather than just sit in church and hear the preacher. Though preaching is good, CW reminds us of the Great Commission and what we as the body of Christ are charged with: to bring and teach the Gospel of Christ to all nations. That includes right here in our nation, and in our neighborhood, not just overseas. We are called as a people to serve Christ everyday with our whole being - our heart, mind, soul, and strength. The attitude of CW can be two different things. Do you want everyone to look at you and tell you what a good work you are doing? The Bible says all of the glory will be here. Or, do you want your good works to shine before your Father in heaven? The Bible says that your reward will be great. Does Jesus get the glory from your life? - Dawn Green
